This morning I rode him again, and added direction and speed to his previous lesson. He was a little more nervous with changing directions, but soon got the hang of it. So now he walks, gaits, slows back to a walk, stops, backs, and turns on command.
Next we will add more speed with control. Once he masters all gaits and commands in the round pen, I will take him out into the pasture for a short trail ride.
Side note: He came running to me in the pasture, when I called him this morning! First time to come on a verbal call!
